Production Manager (CG Animated Series)

The Production Manager is responsible for the day-to-day production of the show.  This position oversees the production schedule while balancing and prioritizing the needs across the show.   As part of the projects leadership team, this role is influential in guaranteeing timely deliveries for all departments, while also projecting stability, guidance, and competency.  #Animation

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day/week-to-week production progress while keeping a clear understanding of all delivery expectations.
  • Communicate with Producer daily, regarding the status of all departments.
  • Coordinate the workflow for all supervisors and artists in the CG Department.
  • Keep accurate daily output information of all departments and enforce deadlines.
  • Alert Producer of potential problems and suggest appropriate solutions.
  • Update key production personnel on the status of all areas of production.
  • Prepare, update, and distribute weekly production schedule with accurate information to Leadership and production staff.
  • Schedule and drive weekly department meetings to facilitate strong communication across department leadership.
  • Supervise Production Coordinators and Production Assistants while providing mentorship on tracking artist productivity and ensuring follow-through. 
  • Assist Producer in hiring, performance reviews, transitions, and dismissal.
  • Oversee the preparation of production materials for shipping.
  • Manage the daily schedule to ensure production meets strict deadlines.
  • Some of these duties include:             
  • Troubleshoot show schedule issues/challenges and provide recommendations.
  • Coordinate and supervise vendor studios.
  • Coordinate and supervise freelance artists/production staff.
  • Assist in the scheduling of key production personnel.
  • Schedule any additional production meetings as necessary.
  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with ancillary projects; assist Producer with special projects.
  • Facilitate communication in a timely manner between SDA production vendor(s) regarding production issues, questions and materials. 
  • Assist Post Supervisor in monitoring and facilitating retake process; ensure that lists and notes are communicated in a timely manner; monitor retake budget.
  • Draft and coordinate all new hire paperwork for freelancers.
  • Update Human Resources monthly on all freelance activity.
  • Review and approve weekly time sheets, vacation requests, and OT approvals.
  • Gather and submit new hire information to Human Resources.
  • Coordinate Facilities and IT requests.
  • Coordinate materials for festivals, awards, etc.
  • Basic Qualifications

  • Strong organization and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and problem solve.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess complete knowledge of the animation production process.
  • Successful partnerships with Artistic and Production Leadership.
  • Strong working knowledge of Shotgun, Excel, Word, Storyboard Pro, and file sharing programs.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Outlook and MS Office.
  • Desired Qualifications

  • 3 – 4 years of animation production management experience. 
  • BA/BS preferred
