The VP of Tax Reporting & Compliance is responsible for all US and Canadian tax related filings and compliance for Skydance Media entities. The position will oversee all tax matters for the company, maintaining up-to date tax information and requirements. This is a hands-on position working closely with Corporate Accounting, Legal, external tax consultants, and the management team, providing tax and compliance support to ensure corporate compliance. #Media
Compile and analyze data to complete supporting tax schedules for the preparation of US federal, state and local returns, including Canada.
Liaise with external tax consultants to provide necessary information for annual and quarterly estimated tax filings for all US and Canadian provinces
File and maintain sales & use tax, business license registrations, and payroll tax registration across multiple states in US and Canadian provinces
Responsible for tracking and filing state and local taxes, including Statement of Information forms and Annual Statements
Coordinate annual state Nexus analysis with external tax consultants
Coordinate global tax credits supporting documentation for productions as well as corporate tax credit filings
Coordinate with Madrid finance team and tax advisers on any relevant tax issues and proper tax treatment in Spain and US
International tax filings, including GST/HST, VAT and Form 6166 Certificates
Prepare corporate and individual FBAR filings
Prepare responses to notices and audits from federal and state tax authorities, including US and Canada
Research technical tax issues and prepare process documentation
Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed
Qualifications & Experience
Proven knowledge of US federal and state tax laws, tax accounting principles, and business compliance practices
Understanding of GAAP Accounting and Internal Controls
Exposure to Canadian tax laws
Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop strategy and best practices
Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, highly organized, flexible & dependable
Strong communication skills, highly process oriented
Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and good judgment in all interactions with co-workers, customers, vendors, and others
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects at once
Must have discretion with handling confidential or sensitive information
Four-year college degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar field. Master’s degree in Tax or CPA, preferred
7+ years relevant tax experience, preferably in the entertainment industry
Experience with Intacct by Sage GL or similar systems is a plus
Strong Microsoft skills, exceptional with Excel functions
