Skydance Animation is seeking a Director of Development Production. This person will report into the SVP, Operations & Business Strategy and will work closely with the senior Production and Development leadership to manage the timelines, budgets, and talents of our upcoming animated productions.
Partners with SVP, Development and VP, Series Production to lead and guide all aspects of series & film development
Manage schedules, timelines, milestones, and logistical plans for all development, platform delivery and transition phases of development
Along with SVP, Development and VP, Series Production, provide ongoing creative updates with Senior Leadership. Create milestones for feedback, monitor progress against deadlines, and provide mid-mortem and post-mortem analysis on patterns in development to leverage best practices across studio projects
Collaborate with Finance and Operations & Business Strategy to track budgets, ensure proper cash flow, forecasting and cost reporting across all development projects
Be pro-active in making key strategic, creative and production decisions and eliciting inventive ideas from a team in a highly collaborative environment; promote a culture of creative collaboration and facilitate peer feedback throughout the process
Manage creative talent (e.g. writers, directors, story artists, designers, consultants) on development projects
Manage the day-to-day development production functionality at all levels, including with various LOBs and SDA teams (e.g. Development, Operations & Business Strategy, Casting, Post Production, Finance, Business Affairs, HR, Recruiting, Facilities)
Stay on top of key industry trends, emerging technology, competitors’ development and programming
Minimum 6+ years of hands-on production management of animated programming
Extensive experience and knowledge of pre-production, production and post-production methods in traditional and CG mediums
Must have a high aptitude for strategic planning and tactical execution on a multitude of simultaneous projects
Experience managing creative teams in a high-pressure environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills which will enable him/her to interact with a range of personalities and styles and establish effective relationships at all levels of the organization; be highly self-motivated, well-organized and have a strong work ethic
Familiarity with animation software, hardware, databases and asset management systems
Knowledge of 2D, CG, VFX and/or video game production
Wide industry knowledge of talent, process and various pipelines
A track record of delivering animated projects on-time and on-budget
Experience in a large dynamic studio
Bachelor’s degree in related field
