Lead VFX Artist

The Visual Effects Artist must possess the ability to collaborate well with the Art Director and Game Director to develop striking VFX content that is visually beautiful and works within our performance targets. They must also demonstrate a depth of experience working with other disciplines to get the most out of the game engine and tools as well as help identify new tools and tech needed to create outstanding VFX.


  • Design, create and implement AAA-quality visual effects using particles, animation, materials, sprites, custom shaders, and more
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure that art direction, gameplay, and technical requirements are met
  • Ensure that VFX are optimized and meet performance requirements
  • Keep up to date with new technologies and industry best practices to help advance the visual quality bar for our products
  • Rapidly prototype, iterate and refine ideas based on feedback
  • Requirements

  • 3+ years as a VFX Artist with at least one shipped title on PC, console, or VR platforms
  • Strong skills with 2D/3D art design software (Maya, Houdini, After Effects, Photoshop, etc)
  • Strong understanding of the principles of real-time visual effects, as well as physics, art, animation, and visual design fundamentals (color theory, etc.)
  • Ability to author and edit shaders and shader code to create real-time VFX
  • Outstanding eye for engaging visuals and a deep understanding of motion, animation, and emotion
  • Possess a flair for the spectacular
  • Self-starter and problem-solving mindset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience working in Unreal Engine 4
  • Programming or scripting experience in any language (C++ / Python / HLSL)
  • Experience with fluid simulations and rigid-body destruction simulation
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Perforce
