Lead Level Designer - Game Team

Our studio was founded in 2008 by several Treyarch veterans as The Workshop. For eight years, we built our reputation in the AAA console space working on hit titles such as Gears of War, XCom 2, Sorcery and The Evil Within.
In 2016, we joined forces with Skydance Media to form Skydance Interactive and set our sights on becoming the premiere studio in the burgeoning arena of Virtual Reality. Following the success of our first VR title Archangel, we elevated our ambition and tackled The Walking Dead universe in VR. The result was the 2018 genre-defining hit The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners.
With the success of the award winning multi-platform hit The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, we are seeking a Lead Level Designer for our upcoming next-generation VR game projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Creative Director and team to brainstorm and develop the game world and levels
  • Own level design and world layout for the game
  • Create standards and define the level design pipeline 
  • Create unique levels from paper design through implementation and revisions
  • Providing feedback and guidance to other designers – helping them stay on track and true to the overall vision of the game
  • Use player, peer and lead feedback to improve levels and the player experience
  • Requirements

  • Expertise in Unreal 4 and Blueprint
  • Experience in quest design and combat encounter scripting
  • Ability to use encounters and level pacing to drive in-game storytelling
  • Ability to work and contribute effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Solid problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Pluses

  • Experience on VR / AR projects
  • Experience in systems and combat design
