Archangel: Hellfire

April 23, 2018

Skydance Interactive, the studio behind arcade mech shooter Archangel (2017), officially announced today that their next update, Archangel: Hellfire, will bring an off-rails multiplayer mode to the base game, which at launch was exclusively an on-rails, single player experience.

Archangel: Hellfire will add all-new maps, new classes of the game’s six-story tall mechs, and two new game modes—a Cooperative Mode and a 2v2 Team Deathmatch.

Archangel: Hellfire will be a free update for players of the base game, and is set for worldwide availability on July 17th for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. It’s uncertain currently when the PSVR version will see the Hellfire update.

Skydance Interactive is making the new Team Deathmatch free to all players “for a limited time.” Players who own the original Archangel will also be able to play the mode starting May 25th when an Early Access period begins.

“The team is working hard to bring the player-versus-player off-rails combat that fans have been asking for, and really embody that fantasy of piloting a giant building-sized mech,” said Peter Akemann, President of Skydance Interactive. “And with the free team PvP multiplayer experience, all VR gamers will soon have a chance to hop into the cockpit and prove their mettle.”

The update adds four new maps, six new warrior mechs and three distinct classes, each with their own powerful abilities and custom weapon systems, and all-new cockpit controls—a missing piece of the puzzle that many fans craved after playing the on-rails single player mode.

The studio is also permanently lowering the price of Archangel soon, although at the time of this writing it’s still uncertain how much Skydance is knocking off the $30 price tag.
