Daniela Melchior Lands Female Lead In Peter Farrelly’s ‘Balls Up’ At Amazon MGM And Skydance; Eric André Also On Board
After her scene-stealing role in the Road House reboot, Daniela Melchior is reuniting with Amazon on another big priority as she and Eric André have joined the cast of Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming film Balls Up. They join previously announced stars Mark Wahlberg, Paul Walter Hauser, Molly Shannon, Eva De Dominici and Benjamin Bratt, with Peter Farrelly directing.
The film, which hails from Skydance, follows two American marketing executives who are fired for blowing a client sponsorship opportunity and decide to use their free tickets to a major soccer match. Their drunken debauchery leads them to be hunted by every person across the country. The action comedy was scripted by Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese.
Producers include Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Andrew Muscato, along with Wernick and Reese. Marc Fisher is executive producing.
The film marks the fourth collaboration between Amazon MGM and Skydance after their sports drama Air, The Tomorrow War starring Chris Pratt, and Without Remorse starring Michael B. Jordan. The film also reunites Farrelly with Amazon MGM after the comedy Ricky Stanicky starring Zac Efron, John Cena, Jermaine Fowler and Andrew Santino debuted in March on Prime Video.
Melchior can most recently be seen in Road House, where she held her own opposite star Jake Gyllenhaal in the movie that broke streaming records in March when it premiered. A sequel has been announced.
Prior to that, Melchiors’ breakout role came in DC Studios’ The Suicide Squad, which she followed with a key role in another tentpole, Fast X, and another in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. She is represented by Gersh, Brave Artists Management and Felker Toczek Suddleson.
Best known for his Adult Swim series The Eric Andre Show, which just received two Emmy nominations for its sixth season. Last year, he was featured as an expert panelist on ABC’s The Prank Panel, and launched his first podcast Bombing with Eric Andre as part of the iHeartMedia and Will Ferrell’s Big Money Players Network. André is represented by Rise Management, UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.
