Kit Harington Joins Mark Wahlberg In Apple And Skydance’s ‘The Family Plan’ Sequel
Following his scene stealing role as the antagonist of this past season of HBO’s Industry, Kit Harington looks to have found another fun role to play as sources tell Deadline the Emmy-nominated actor is set to join Mark Wahlberg in Apple Original Films sequel to its hit action comedy The Family Plan. Wahlberg will also produce with the film being directed by Simon Cellan Jones. Hailing from Skydance Media, the sequel also stars Michelle Monaghan, Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby. The original premiered as the most-watched film on Apple TV+ following its debut last year.
Details around Harington’s role are being kept under wraps. Penned by David Coggeshall, The Family Plan sequel takes place at Christmas in Europe where Dan has planned the perfect vacation for the Morgans, but his past continues to haunt them in unexpected ways. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce for Skydance, alongside Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson through Municipal Pictures. John G. Scotti will also produce. Cellan Jones is exec producing.
Best known for his iconic role as Jon Snow in the Game of Thrones series, Harington is coming off his critically acclaimed role as billionaire Henry Muck in the most recent season of the hit HBO series Industry. He was also recently seen in the film The Beast Within. He is repped by CAA, United Agents and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
The Family Plan sequel joins upcoming Apple Original Films produced by Skydance Media including the high-action, genre-bending film The Gorge starring Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy; Fountain of Youth, the upcoming star-studded feature from Guy Ritchie starring Natalie Portman and John Krasinksi; action-adventure film May Day with Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh set to star in the lead roles; Way of the Warrior Kid, the inspiring new film directed by McG and starring and produced by Chris Pratt: and, Matchbox the live-action feature based on Mattel’s iconic toy vehicle line directed by Sam Hargrave and starring John Cena.
