‘Neuromancer’ Apple TV+ Series Casts Peter Sarsgaard
Peter Sarsgaard has been cast in the Apple TV+ adaptation of “Neuromancer,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Sarsgaard will appear alongside previously announced cast members Callum Turner, Briana Middleton, Mark Strong, Joseph Lee, and Cleménce Poésy in the 10-episode drama based on the William Gibson novel of the same name.
The official logline for “Neuromancer” states that it “follows a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case (Turner) who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly (Middleton), a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.”
Sarsgaard will play John Ashpool in the series. The role marks a return to Apple for the actor, as he previously appeared in the critically-acclaimed legal drama “Presumed Innocent.” Elsewhere on his TV resume, he was nominated for an Emmy in 2022 for his role in the Netflix limited series “Dopesick,” which examined America’s opioid epidemic. Sarsgaard has also starred in shows like “Interrogation,” “The Looming Tower,” “The Slap,” and “The Killing.” In film, he is known for roles in features like “Shattered Glass,” for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination, as well as “Jarhead,” “Garden State,” “Jackie,” and “The Batman.”
He is repped by Anonymous Content, ID, WME and Peikoff/Mahan.
“Neurmancer” hails from co-creators Graham Roland and JD Dillard. Roland will also serve as showrunner, while Dillard will direct the pilot. Both are executive producers along with: Gibson; David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television; Anonymous Content; Drake, Adel “Future” Nur and Jason Shrier for DreamCrew Entertainment; and Zack Hayden. Skydance Television will co-produce with Anonymous Content and Apple Studios.
