The Reacher-verse is expanding.

Prime Video has officially picked up a spinoff of its action drama centered on Jack Reacher’s (Alan Ritchson) former military colleague and sometime collaborator Frances Neagley. Maria Sten, who has appeared in both seasons of Reacher thus far (and will also be part of season three), will continue the role in the currently untitled spinoff.

Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance Television and CBS Studios (taking over for the now-shuttered Paramount Television Studios) are behind the Neagley series, as they are with Reacher. The parent show’s creator, Nick Santora, and Nicholas Wootton (Prison Break, NYPD Blue) are co-creators of the spinoff.

“As Reacher continues to resonate with our global customers in a profound way, expanding on the storytelling and characters with a spinoff was an easy decision,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios. “With Nick and Nicholas as well as our partners Skydance and CBS Studios, we’re confident this new chapter, starring the amazing Maria Sten, will not only honor the Reacher legacy, but also bring fresh energy and excitement to new and longtime fans alike.”

Said Santora and Wootton, “Lee Child created an immensely rich character with Neagley, and Maria Sten brought her to life in such a vivid, authentic way in Reacher. Amazon, Skydance Television and CBS Studios have been tremendous partners from the start, and we are excited to explore Neagley’s story further and dive into what makes her so unique.”

The spinoff will center on Neagley, who works as a private investigator in Chicago. “When she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell bent on justice,” the show’s logline reads. “Using everything she’s learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil.”

With Nick and Nicholas Wootton at the helm, audiences are in for another captivating adventure in the Reacher universe.”

Added Sten, “I’m beyond thrilled to further explore the world of Neagley and her somewhat mysterious background. She’s such a wonderful character to play and I’m very excited for everyone to get to know her a little better.”

Santora and Wootton will executive produce the Neagley series with Lee Child, author of the Jack Reacher novels, Don Granger, Lisa Kussner and Skydance TV’s David Ellison, Goldberg and Matt Thunell. Carolyn Harris, Kenny Madrid and Niko Fernandez will oversee the project for Skydance.

The Reacher spinoff continues the fruitful relationship between Prime Video and Skydance. The two companies have also collaborated on Jack Ryan; the upcoming Cross and The Runarounds; an action-adventure series starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham; and a documentary series about the 2022 University of Idaho murders.

Sten’s credits also include the 2019 Swamp Thing series and Syfy’s Channel Zero. She is repped by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, The Initiative Group and Granderson Des Rochers.
